Va. Rt. 28 closures this weekend June 12-15 for storm sewer installation

ROUTE 28 NIGHTTIME CLOSURES THIS WEEKEND
Detour in place during installation of storm sewer line

BRISTOW—Route 28 (Nokesville Road) between Bristow Village Boulevard and Battalion Square will be closed in both directions Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights so that crews can install a storm sewer line, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. Closure times:
10 p.m. Friday, June 12 to 5 a.m. Saturday, June 13
10 p.m. Saturday, June 13 to 5 a.m. Sunday, June 14
10 p.m. Sunday, June 14 to 4 a.m. Monday, June 15
Traffic will be detoured via Fitzwater Drive, Kettle Run Road and Vint Hill Road.

The storm sewer line installation is part of Prince William County’s $69.9 million Route 28 widening project. Phase One, which involves relocating Vint Hill Road to Route 28’s intersection with Infantry Lane and widening Route 28 to six lanes between Linton Hall Road and the relocated Vint Hill Road, is scheduled for completion in July 2016. Construction of Phase Two, which involves widening Route 28 to four lanes between the relocated Vint Hill Road and Fitzwater Drive, is scheduled to begin in March 2016 and has an estimated completion date of December 2017.

PW Police report passenger dies from injuries sustained in an April 15 traffic collision

The investigation revealed the driver of a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 Pickup truck was traveling westbound on Yates Ford Rd. approaching Evans Ford Rd. when a 1993 Buick Roadmaster traveling eastbound on Yates Ford Rd. entered the intersection in front of the truck’s path of travel. The truck and Roadmaster collided within the intersection. The driver and female passenger of the Roadmaster were transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. A Pug in the Roadmaster was declared deceased on scene.
