Va. Board of Education meetings for July postponed
The July 20 and July 21 meetings of the Virginia Board of Education have been postponed due to the unavailability of a sufficient number of members for a quorum for either meeting.
The Code of Virginia requires that a quorum of the nine-member board be physically present for the board to transact business. Board of Education President Dan Gecker postponed the meetings today after only four members — one short of the required five — said that they could physically attend.
The postponed meetings include an executive session and work session originally scheduled for July 20 and the board’s July 21 business meeting.
The Virginia Department of Education will announce information on rescheduling the July meetings when it is available. Agendas and meeting materials for the postponed meetings are available on the VDOE website.
