US News & World Report ranks Thomas Jefferson & Osbourn Park among Va.‘s top schools

U.S. News & World Report has recognized Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, as 10th in the nation and first in Virginia. The high school which is partially supported by Prince William County taxpayers is in Fairfax but offers a specialized education to students from Prince William County Schools, among others.

The news magazine gave Osbourn Park High School a silver medal in its 2018 rankings, which are based on the school’s 2015-16 test results, graduation rate, and college readiness. U.S. News & World Report ranks Osbourn Park High as 16th out of 325 Virginia high schools, and 774th out of 20,500+ public high schools nationwide. The ranking places Osbourn Park in the top five percent of this group of high schools nationwide.

“This is wonderful news, and testament to the hard work of our students, and faculty and staff, said Neil Beech, OPHS principal. “I know the U.S. News calculation is complicated and attempts to compare the performance of schools across the nation. To be ranked 16th in Virginia and in the top five percent in the nation is a source of pride for our community.”
