Upcoming workshops for caregivers on living with late-stage Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s Association will present two workshops Dec. 1 and Dec. 8 in Lake Ridge on “Living with Alzheimer’s: For Late-Stage Caregivers.” The series is sequential and should be taken in order.

The first workshop is December 1 (Part 1) and the second is on December 8 (Part 2), Both are from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Westminster At Lake Ridge, 12191 Clipper Dr, Lake Ridge, VA 22192

In the late stage of Alzheimer’s disease, caregiving typically involves new ways of connecting and interacting with the person with the disease. JIn these free workshops learn about resources, monitoring care and providing meaningful connection for the person with late-stage Alzheimer’s and their families. Topics covered will include:

• Symptoms and care needs associated with the late stage of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias
• Understanding the concept of the self in the late stage of the disease
• Effective ways to communicate, connect with and provide daily care in the late stage of the disease
• Late-stage care options and ways to access and evaluate them
• Providing an optimal end of life experience
