Two 18-year-olds arrested in connection with Dumfries Shopping Plaza robberies

Armed Robberies *ARRESTS –
On December 17 at 9:16PM, officers with the Town of Dumfries Police Department were proactively patrolling in the Dumfries Shopping Plaza located in the 18000 block of Dumfries Shopping Plaza in the Town of Dumfries (22026) when they observed two suspicious males who appeared to be casing a business in the shopping plaza. The two males matched the descriptions of the suspects involved in two prior robberies in the shopping plaza of the Metro PCS on November 28 and the Wing Guys on December 14, according to Off. Nathan Probus, police department spokesman.

Officers with the Dumfries Police and Prince William County Police approached the suspects and detained them without incident. Both suspects were armed with stolen handguns at the time of their arrest, the police report stated. A search warrant was subsequently executed at 1602 Fort Fisher Ct and evidence in relation to the robberies was recovered.

Following the investigation, detectives with the Robbery Unit obtained charges for the suspects, identified as Joshean STOKES and Michael NEWMAN.

Officers with the Town of Dumfries Police Department also obtained additional charges for attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Both of the accused persons were arrested and transported to the Adult Detention Center.
Arrested on December 17:
Joshean Darnell STOKES, 18, of 1602 Fort Fisher Ct in Dumfries
Michael Lorenzo NEWMAN, 18, of no fixed address
Both were charged by PWCPD with robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony
Court Date: February 6, 2019 | Bond: Both were held WITHOUT bond.

Armed Robbery [Previously Released] – On December 14 at 6:08PM, Prince William Police officers along with officers from the Town of Dumfries Police Department responded to the Wings Guys located at 18017 Dumfries Shopping Center in the Town of Dumfries (22026) to investigate a robbery. An employee reported to police that an unknown man armed with a handgun entered the business and demanded money. During the encounter, the suspect forced an employee to open the cash register. An undisclosed amount of money was taken before the suspect fled the business on foot. A police K-9 searched for the suspect who was not located. There were no injuries reported. The investigation continues.

Armed Robbery [Previously Released] – On November 28 at 2:08PM, officers responded to the Metro PCS located at 17997 Dumfries Shopping Plaza in the Town of Dumfries (22026) to investigate a robbery. An employee reported to police that two unknown males wearing masks, one armed with a handgun, entered the store and demanded money. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the business on foot. No injuries were reported. A police K-9 searched the surrounding area for the suspects who were not located. The investigation continues.
