Telos expansion means 160 new cybersecurity jobs to be located in nearby Loudoun Co.

Telos Corporation, which has made the Washington Technology Top 100 Government Contractors list for the 10th year in a row, will invest $5 million in its Loudoun County operations, according to an announcement from the office of Gov. Terry McAuliffe.

The company will undergo a major renovation to its headquarters facility and increase cybersecurity capacity, creating 160 new jobs over the next three years, the governor’s statement said.

Virginia successfully competed against Maryland for the project, and also retains 240 existing jobs.

The news release from the governor’s office stated that “Telos Corporation has provided innovative IT solutions and services to the government and commercial organizations for more than 30 years, focusing since 1997 on cybersecurity. The company’s solutions ensure that the most security-conscious organizations, including Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community, and financial services firms, comply with demanding information security mandates.”

The release also noted financial incentives from the state. Former Governor Bob McDonnell approved a $500,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to assist Loudoun with the project. Telos is also eligible to receive a Major Business Facility Job Tax Credit. Through its Virginia Jobs Investment Program, the Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide funding and services to support the company’s recruitment and training activities.

Telos’ CEO John B. Wood is a past chair of the Loudoun County Economic Development Commission.
