Teen struck with baseball bat after neighborhood spat at basketball court

**INCIDENTS**

Malicious Wounding – On July 16 at 7:50PM, officers responded to the 14100 block of Page St in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an assault. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 16-year-old male juvenile of Woodbridge, and some friends were playing on the basketball courts in the above area when they were involved in a verbal altercation with another group of juveniles. At some point, an alleged physical altercation took place between the victim and a female juvenile.

A short time later, an adult male with a baseball bat arrived in a SUV and approached the victim. During the encounter, the accused struck the victim multiple times in the upper body with the baseball bat. The parties eventually separated and police were contacted.

The adult male left the scene prior to officers arriving. The victim was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. All parties were known to one another. The investigation continues.
