Teddy bear picnic for youngsters at library

Janice Eisenhart, a popular children’s librarian in Manassas for almost four decades, will be remembered Oct. 26 when master puppeteer Bob Brown will present Teddy Bear’s Picnic for children ages 2-6, accompanied by an adult, at 10:45 a.m. at Central Community Library.

Teddy Bear’s Picnic follows a mother bear and her baby as they excitedly start out on their picnic.  As they travel through the woods, they meet many of their friends, including Chip, a squirrel; a young bird named Marmaduke; dancing frogs, Fred and Ginger; Roberto Rabbit; and many more. Teddy bears are welcome too.

Eisenhart was a member of the children’s staff at Central Library for 38 years. Her special focus was preschool storytime. She also enjoyed Bob Brown’s puppet shows which made him a perfect choice for this first Janice Eisenhart Memorial Program, according to a library statement.

Free tickets are required. Get one at Central Library beginning Wednesday, Oct. 19. This puppet show is made possible by the Friends of Central and Bull Run Libraries. For more information visit Central Community Library, 8601 Mathis Avenue, Manassas, VA, or call 703-361-8211.
