Suspicious persons report turns into arrest
Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On Monday, Feb. 3 at 11:40AM, officers responded to the area of Ashton Ave. and Coverstone Dr. in Manassas (20109) to investigate a suspicious person. Responding officers located a man, identified as the accused, who was determined to be intoxicated and attempted to detain him.
The accused refused to follow officer’s commands and fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit and brief struggle, the accused was taken into custody. During the encounter, an officer was kicked by the accused. Minor injuries were reported by the accused, and no injuries were reported by the officers. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as John Wellington MCCOY, was arrested.

Charged with assault & battery on a LEO, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, and intoxicated in public
