Student, 16, charged with sexual assault in summer school class

**ARRESTS**
Sexual Assault Investigation – On July 2 at 9:29AM, the School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Gar-Field Senior High School located at 14000 Smoketown Road in Woodbridge (22192) began an investigation into a sexual assault that reportedly occurred at the school.

The victim, a 17-year old female, reported to police that another student, identified as the accused, inappropriately touched her the day prior, on July 1, while both parties were in class. The parties separated at the end of the class and the incident was reported to police the following day. No injuries were reported.

Following the investigation, officers obtained a petition for the accused, identified as a 16-year old male. The accused was released to the custody of his parents pending court.

Strong-Armed Robbery – On July 3 at 2:30AM officers responded to the Potomac Inn located at 13964 Jefferson Davis Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 28-year-old man, reported to police that while occupying a room with a male acquaintance and a female acquaintance, later identified as the accused individuals, a verbal altercation ensued that escalated.

During the encounter, the male acquaintance took money out of the victim’s wallet while the female acquaintance was distracting him. Upon discovering the money was missing, a brief struggle ensued. The parties eventually separated, and both of the accused fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. No injuries were reported. Responding officers located both suspects nearby and detained them without further incident.

Following the investigation, the accused individuals identified as Thomas Adam DAVENPORT III and Karen Sue O’BRIEN, were arrested.
