Six injured in chain-reaction noontime crash on U.S. 1 northbound in Woodbridge May 19

On Friday, May 19, at 12:06PM, Prince William County Police Department officers and investigators with the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Jefferson Davis Hwy and Powells Creek Blvd in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a four vehicle crash.

The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2011 Jeep was traveling northbound on Jefferson Davis Hwy when it struck the rear of a 2011 Toyota Avalon causing a chain reaction crash. The Jeep then struck a 2007 Honda Odyssey and 2009 Ford Expedition also traveling northbound.

When an officer arrived, contact was made with the driver of the Jeep who attempted to walk away from the scene. Officers quickly detained the accused and determined the driver be intoxicated.

The drivers of the 2007 Honda Odyssey and 2009 Ford Expedition along with a passenger from the 2007 Honda Odyssey reported minor injuries. Two passengers from the 2009 Ford Expedition were later taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.  A passenger of the 2011 Toyota Avalon was not injured.

Charged with 1 count of maiming of another while driving under the influence, 3 counts of felony hit & run, 1 count of driving under the influence, 1 count of unreasonable refusal, and 1 count of reckless driving

Identified:
The driver of the 2011 Toyota Avalon was identified as a 48-year-old man of Fredericksburg.

The passenger of the 2011 Toyota Avalon was identified as a 15-year-old male juvenile of Fredericksburg.

The driver and passenger of the 2007 Honda Odyssey were identified as a 46-year-old woman and 13-year-old female juvenile, both of Dumfries

The driver of the 2009 Ford Expedition was identified as a 56-year-old woman of Stafford.

The passengers of the 2009 Ford Expedition were identified as a 5-year-old girl and 4-year-old girl, both of Stafford.
