PWC Tea Party offers lobbyist training to local residents

Prince William Tea Party Patriots will hold a training program for local residents who want to know how to lobby their elected officials in the Virginia General Assembly. The training is set for on Saturday, Jan. 7, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Tall Oaks Community Center, 12298 Cotton Mill Drive, Woodbridge, VA 22192.

According to a news release, participants will learn how the General Assembly works, the importance of committees and how a number of tea party bills were killed during the 2012 General Assembly session. Chris Marston, Election CFO, a campaign finance firm, and Mark Johnson, lobbyist for Toyota of America, will walk through the process.

Prince William Delegates Rich Anderson and Scott Lingamfelter will talk about the protocols for lobbying an individual delegate and state senator. They and Nancy Schiffman, who chairs the PWC Tea Party Patriots, will discuss the 2012 tea party legislative agenda and priorities.

Attendees can test their new skills Jan. 16 in Richmond at the Third Annual Tea Party Lobby Day for Virginia Tea Party Patriots.
