PWC School Board chairman publishes first online newsletter, “Chairman’s Chat”

Ryan Sawyers, chairman of the Prince William County School Board, issued the first in a series of online newsletters on Friday, Aug. 12. Sawyers said he intends to publish more newsletters “from time to time to share great school stories and information.”

The newsletter includes five short stories and photos. Stories cover 88,000+ students expected for the start of the 2016-17 school year, 99 percent graduation rate from PWCS Summer Academy and a new record of 1150 students taking Virtual High School courses and information about three school dedications/rededications Aug. 22, 23 and 25.

There is also a story and photo about Sawyers’ visit to the new PWCS Aquatics Center whose grand opening is on Sept. 10 and a salute to Gil Trenum, Brentsville School Board member, who is on deployment with the US Navy in Africa.

Sawyers says people should look for other School Board members to put out newsletters “aimed at their own districts,”  and that “Together, we hope to fill you in on the great things happening in your Prince William County Public Schools.”
