PWC Police make arrests involving alleged assault

**ARRESTS**

Indecent Liberties with a Child – On September 27th, detectives from the Special Victims Unit responded to investigate a sexual assault which was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 1300 block of Bayside Ave in Woodbridge (22191). The investigation revealed that the victim, a 12 year old girl, was sexually assaulted by the accused, a known acquaintance, on more than one occasion since 2012. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without incident.
Arrested on September 27th:
Santos Joel IRAHETA ZOMETA, 45, of the 1300 block of Bayside Ave in Woodbridge
Charged with 3 counts of indecent liberties with a child and 1 count of peeping

Malicious Wounding | Domestic Assault & Battery – On September 28th at 3:53PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 3500 block of Carson Dr in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a domestic assault. The victim, a 17 year old male juvenile of Woodbridge, reported to police that he and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused allegedly struck the victim in the face. The victim was transported to an area hospital with a possible concussion. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without further incident.

Malicious Wounding – On September 28th at 2:45PM, officers responded to investigate an assault which was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 3000 block of Jenny Ln in Woodbridge (22192). The victim, a 32 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused allegedly struck the victim in the face. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without further incident.

Charged with malicious wounding

Strangulation | Domestic Assault & Battery – On September 28th at 7:49PM, officers responded to investigate a domestic assault which was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 4800 block of Kentbury Ct in Woodbridge (22193) on September 27th. The victim, an 18 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that the accused, a known acquaintance, assaulted her following a verbal altercation she had with another family member. During the encounter, the accused allegedly struck the victim and knocked her to the ground. Once on the ground, the accused grabbed the victim by the neck and began to choke her. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without further incident.

Charged with strangulation and domestic assault & battery

Attempted Malicious Wounding | Brandishing a Machete – On September 25th at 5:52PM, officers responded to the 18100 block of Kilmer Ln in Triangle (22172) to investigate a brandishing. The victim, a 24 year old man of Tringle, reported to police that he and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. At one point, the victim went to his vehicle and was followed by the accused. Once at the vehicle, the accused brandished a machete and swung it towards the victim. No contact was made and the victim was able to separate from the accused. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without further incident.

Miguel De Jesus MEJIA-ABREGO, 30, of 18140 Kilmer Ln, Apt. T-3 in Triangle
Charged with attempted malicious wounding and brandishing a machete
Court date: October 27, 2014 | Bond: held WITHOUT bond

Reckless Handling of a Firearm | Destruction of Property – On September 25th at 9:13AM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 4300 block of Whitmer Dr in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a shots fired call. A caller reported to police that a resident in a neighboring apartment, identified as the accused, was firing his gun inside his residence. Officers arrived and were able to detain the accused without further incident. Multiple shell casings were located inside the residence. Officers checked nearby apartments and located a shattered rear sliding door which appeared to have been struck by one of the rounds fired by the accused. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with reckless handling of a firearm and destruction of property
