PWC Police investigate incident at Woodbridge child care center

A report on a Sept. 11 incident was issued on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014 by Officer Jonathan Perok, public information officer for the Prince William County Police Department.

Assault & Battery | Failure to Report Child Abuse or Neglect – On September 16th, detectives from the Physical Abuse Unit responded to the Goddard School located at 5490 Staples Mill Plz in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an assault & battery involving an employee and child of the facility which occurred on September 11th, according to Perok.

The investigation into the incident revealed that a teacher of the facility, identified as Theresa BROWN, allegedly bit a 13 month old boy after the infant reportedly bit another teacher. The infant sustained a bite mark to his shoulder, the police report stated.

A witness to the incident immediately reported the encounter to management of the facility. The owner of the Goddard School, identified as Nadia CHOUDHRY, was made aware of the incident as well but failed to report it to Child Protective Services in accordance with state law. The owner further informed the reporting staff member to not report the incident to authorities, according to the police report.

The incident was eventually reported to Child Protective Services anonymously on September 12th. On Friday, Sept. 19, following the investigation, both parties were charged in connection to the incident, the police report stated.

          Charged with assault & battery

          Court date: pending | Bond: $2,000 secured

          Nadia Maqsood CHOUDHRY, 24, of 6639 Olga Ln in Manassas

          Charged with failure to report child abuse or neglect

          Court date: pending | Bond: unavailable
