PWC Police Chief Steve Hudson to retire March 31

Prince William County Police Chief Steve Hudson announced Feb. 10 his plans to retire from the police department. Chief Hudson’s last day is scheduled for March 31, 2016, according to Sgt. Jonathan Perok, police department spokesman.

Chief Hudson was selected as the department’s third police chief in 2013 following a nationwide search to replace long time serving Police Chief Charlie Deane who retired in 2012.

Chief Hudson has been a Prince William County resident since the 1970s and has served on the police department for 34 years. In that time, he has held many positions across the department and has been in a command level role since 2000, the release stated.

Deputy Chief of Police Barry Barnard will serve as Acting Police Chief following Hudson’s retirement until a national search to fill the position is concluded.
