PWC Police Beat for 9/27/12

ARRESTS

Shooting at an Occupied Vehicle – On September 26th at 2:30AM, a Prince William County police officer was operating a marked police cruiser in the area of I-66 and the Jefferson St overpass in Haymarket (20169) when the officer heard a loud bang and something strike the top of the vehicle. The officer located two men, one identified as the accused, on the overpass and a dime sized dent near the lightbar. The accused was found to be in possession of an airsoft gun and had been firing the gun at vehicles traveling on I-66. No other damage was reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested. Damage to the cruiser was estimated around $150. Arrested: Dante Rashad CURRY, 19, of no fixed address. Charged with shooting at an occupied vehicle and destruction of property. Court date unavailable, held WITHOUT bond.

INCIDENTS
Armed Robbery – On September 27th at 12:29AM, police responded to the Comfort Inn located at 16931 Old Stage Rd in Dumfries (22025) for a robbery. An employee reported to police that an unknown man entered the hotel, displayed a handgun and demanded money. The man fled the hotel on foot with an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency. No injuries were reported. A police K-9 and the Fairfax County police helicopter assisted in the search for the suspect. Lookout: Black male, between 35 & 40 years of age, 5’10”-6’, heavy build. Last seen wearing a dark colored t-short, white shorts and gray shoes.

Armed Robbery – On September 24th at 2:41PM, police responded to investigate a robbery which was reported to have occurred in the 19300 block of Belleau Woods Dr in Triangle (22172) on September 23rd around 4:20AM. The victim, a 30-year-old woman of Triangle, reported to police that she was entering her residence when an unknown man approached her, displayed a handgun and demanded her property. The man took an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency from the victim before fleeing on foot. No injuries were reported. Lookout: Black male, between 16 & 25 years of age, 5’8” / 160lbs, medium build with black hair and brown eyes. Last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a black mask.

Strong Armed Robbery – On September 26th at 4:33PM, police responded to the area of Hiram Ct and Notre Dame St in Manassas (20109) for a robbery. The victim, a 56-year-old man of Manassas, reported to police that he was walking in the area above when he was approached by an unknown man. The man assaulted the victim and forcibly took a necklace from around his neck. The man fled the area on foot. No injuries were reported. Lookout: Black male, between 18 & 20 years of age, 6’ / 150lbs, thin build with short black hair. Last seen wearing a black shirt and pants.

Residential Burglary – On September 27th at 2:13AM, police responded to the 4300 block of George Frye Cl in Woodbridge (22193) for a burglary in progress. Caller reported to police that two unknown men were seen entering a garage to their neighbors residence. Once being seen by the caller, the men fled the area. There were no signs of forced entry into the garage. A saw, valued around $100, was reported missing. No description of the suspects was provided to police.

Residential Burglary – On September 26th at 12:35PM, police responded to the 7800 block of Pembridge Rd in Manassas (20112) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 8:40AM and 11:00AM. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made through an unlocked door. No property was reported missing, however, several items were out of place in the residence.

Residential Burglary – On September 26th at 11:19AM, police responded to the 13300 block of Hardy Ct in Woodbridge (22193) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 9:00AM and 10:40AM. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made through an unsecured rear sliding glass door. A firearm, valued around $540, and an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency were reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On September 26th at 9:31AM, police responded to the 15000 block of Cherrydale Dr in Woodbridge (22193) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 7:00AM and 11:00AM on September 25th. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made through an unlocked rear door. Jewelry and a laptop, valued around $1,800, were reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On September 25th at 2:01PM, police responded to the 9000 block of Rugby Rd in Manassas (20109) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 11:30AM and 2:00PM. Entry appeared to have been made by removing an A/C window unit. A laptop, camera and a firearm, valued around $3,700, were reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On September 25th at 10:21PM, police responded to the 4900 block of Frishman Ct in Woodbridge (22193) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 8:00PM and 10:00PM. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made through an opened door to an attached garage. No entry was made into the main residence. A bicycle, valued around $1,400, was reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On September 25th at 3:00PM, police responded to the 14200 block of Mapledale Ave in Woodbridge (22193) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 10:00AM and 2:30PM. Entry appeared to have been made through a rear door which had been forced open. A laptop, 2 gaming consoles, jewelry and other property, valued around $5,000, were reported missing.

Commercial Burglary – On September 25th at 10:46AM, police responded to the 18400 block of Joplin Rd in Triangle (22172) for a burglary. Property owner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 12:01AM on September 15th and 10:30AM on September 25th. Entry appeared to have been made through a glass bay door which had been broken out. Truck batteries, rims & tires and miscellaneous tools, valued around $3,300, were reported missing.

Attempted Residential Burglary – On September 26th at 6:30PM, police responded to the 3100 block of Chesapeake Dr in Dumfries (22025) for an attempted burglary. Homeowner reported to police that between 9:00PM on September 24th and 9:00PM on September 26th, an unknown person(s) pried several screens off of multiple windows. No entry appeared to have been made into the residence and no items were reported missing.

PW Police report passenger dies from injuries sustained in an April 15 traffic collision

The investigation revealed the driver of a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 Pickup truck was traveling westbound on Yates Ford Rd. approaching Evans Ford Rd. when a 1993 Buick Roadmaster traveling eastbound on Yates Ford Rd. entered the intersection in front of the truck’s path of travel. The truck and Roadmaster collided within the intersection. The driver and female passenger of the Roadmaster were transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. A Pug in the Roadmaster was declared deceased on scene.
