INCIDENTS

Burglary to a Business – On Dec. 25, 2011 at 2:06 p.m., police responded to the Navy Federal Credit Union located at 2898 Dale Blvd. in Woodbridge (22191) for a burglary. Employees reported to police that the burglary occurred between 8:10 p,m, on Dec. 24, 2011 and 2:08 p.m. on Dec. 25, 2011. Entry appeared to have been made through a rear door of a vacant business next to the bank. Once inside, the suspect(s) broke through an adjoining wall which accessed the bank. The security cameras and alarm system had been disabled by the suspect(s) prior to entry. An undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency was reported missing.

Burglary to a Business – On Dec. 25, 2011 at 6:28 a.m., police responded to the Primemed Urgent Care located at 3928 Lansing Ct in Dumfries (22026) for an alarm. Police arrived and discovered the front door had been pried opened. No entry was believed to have been made due to the alarm activation. No items were reported missing.

Burglary – On Dec. 22, 2011 at 9:24 p.m., police responded to the 4100 block of Presidential Hill Lp in Dumfries (22025) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 21, 2011 and 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 22, 2011. Entry appeared to have been made into a partially opened overhead door of an attached garage. An unlocked vehicle located in the garage was also entered, as well as, an unlocked vehicle which was parked in the driveway. No entry was made into the main residence. An iPod, GPS and other items, valued around $1,200, were reported missing.

Attempted Burglary – On Dec. 24, 2011 at 5:26 p.m., police responded to the 13600 block of Cridercrest Pl in Woodbridge (22191) for an attempted burglary. Homeowner reported to police that between 11 a.m. and 4:25 p.m., an unknown person(s) attempted entry into the residence through front door which had damaged consistent with it being kicked as if to try and force it open. No entry was gained and no items were reported missing.

ARRESTS

Assault & Battery on Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On Dec. 25, 2011 at 2:20 a.m., police stopped a vehicle, operated by the accused, in the area of Sudley Rd and I-66 in Manassas (20109). The accused was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated. As the officer was trying to place the accused in the cruiser, he actively resisted and kicked two of the officers. Other officers were able to get the accused subdued. Arrested: Oscar Joel OTERO-AVELAR, 30, of 108 Evergreen St in Sterling. Charged with two counts of assault & battery on LEO, DUI and resisting arrest. Court date set for Feb. 1, 2012, held WITHOUT bond.

Malicious Wounding/Domestic Related – On Dec. 25, 2011 at 1:47 a.m., police responded to the 17000 block of Mine Rd in Dumfries (22026) for a domestic. The victim, a 46-year-old woman of Stafford, reported to police that the accused, a known acquaintance, was becoming disorderly at the residence. During the encounter, the accused allegedly pulled out a knife and began swinging it at multiple people in the residence. The victim attempted to disarm the accused but was cut in the process. Minor injuries were reported. The accused was arrested without further incident. Arrested: Christine Yvone SKINNER, 64, of 17019 Mine Rd in Dumfries. Charged with malicious wounding. Court date unavailable, released on a $2,000 unsecured bond.

Filing a False Police Report [Home Invasion] – On Dec. 26, 2011 at 10:03 a.m. police responded to the 6000 block of Popes Creek Pl in Haymarket (20169) for a reported home invasion. The victim, now the accused, initially reported to police that she heard a knock at her front door and that when she answered, two unknown men forced their way into their residence. Once inside, the victim reported that the two men assaulted her then took her necklace before fleeing the residence. After a lengthy investigation, detectives determined that the accused had fabricated the story. None of the incidents previously reported were true. The situation appeared to have stemmed from a domestic related incident. Arrested:  Azra Seyedeh KALANTARIAN, 51, of 6054 Popes Creek Pl in Haymarket. Charged with filing a false police report. Court date set for Jan. 31, 2012, released on personal recognizance,
