PW Police Department clarifies reports about shooting arrest

**CLARIFICATION**

In response to inaccurate news stories, we would like to clarify the facts related to this incident from October 19th.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On October 19th at 9:20PM, police responded to the 1900 block of Gableridge Turn in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shots fired call.

The investigation revealed that the daughter of the accused had been involved in an ongoing verbal dispute over rumors with another neighborhood juvenile, a 15 year old boy.

Once learned of the dispute, the accused and her daughter went to confront the other juvenile involved. The accused left her residence and located the male juvenile near his residence in the above area. The encounter was verbal but escalated physically between the male juvenile and the daughter of the accused. At that point, the accused displayed a handgun and fired a round into the air.

Each juvenile claimed that the other had punched them first once in their faces. No injuries or property damage were reported and there were no reported injuries from the alleged assault. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.
