Prince William police charge driver in Sept. 6 Spriggs Road fatality

UPDATE**

Crash – Fatality *CHARGE FILED – On November 15th, after an extensive investigation, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit obtained a charge against the driver in reference to the fatal pedestrian crash which occurred in the 14000 block of Spriggs Rd in Woodbridge on September 6th. The investigation revealed that texting was not a factor that led to this crash, according to Officer Jonathan Perok, public information officer.

Crash – Fatality [Previously Released] – On September 6th at 2:55PM, police responded to the 14000 block of Spriggs Rd in Woodbridge (22193) for a crash. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2008 Ford Mustang was traveling northbound on Spriggs Rd when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a bicyclist on the sidewalk in front of Hylton High School. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. The investigation into the cause of the crash is still under investigation. No charges have been placed at this time.

          The bicyclist has been identified as Joseph James CALLAHAN Jr., 66, of Woodbridge
