Incidents and arrests released on Monday, July 27, 2015

**INCIDENTS**

Armed Robbery – On July 25th at 1:00AM, officers responded to the 14500 block of Three Dormers Ct in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a robbery. Three victims, two 19 year old men and one 18 year old woman – all of Woodbridge, reported to police that they were sitting inside a parked vehicle in the above area when they were approached by an unknown man. During the encounter, the man displayed a long gun and demanded money. The suspect took money before fleeing in a black 4-door vehicle, possibly a Hyundai Elantra. No injuries were reported.
Suspect Description:
Black male, between 18 & 25 years of age, 6’0” with a thin build and dark complexion
Last seen wearing all black clothing including a black & white bandana covering his face

Armed Robbery – On July 24th at 11:30PM, officers responded to the 1700 block of Florida Ave in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 17 year old male juvenile of Woodbridge, reported to police that he and a friend were walking in the above area when they were approached by a beige 4-door vehicle, possibly a Ford Taurus. During the encounter, two men exited the vehicle and confronted the victim and his friend. The men displayed handguns and demanded money. The victim handed over money before the men got back in the vehicle and fled the area. No injuries were reported.
Suspect Descriptions:
Two black males, unknown ages, 5’9”, 150lbs with medium builds
1st suspect was last seen wearing a red shirt and mask
2nd suspect was last seen wearing a white tank top and mask

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On July 26th at 3:09AM, officers responded to the 1200 block of Corbett Pl in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a shots fired call. A caller reported to police that several gunshots were heard in the above area. The caller further reported that a black male, no further description, was then seen walking down the roadway shortly after the gunshots were heard. Officers arrived and located multiple shell casings on Corbett Pl near Occoquan Rd. No injuries or property damage were reported.

Residential Burglary – On July 24th at 7:24PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 13000 block of Brierly Forest Ct in Manassas (20112) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 3:00PM and 4:45PM. The investigation revealed that there were no signs of forced entry into the home. Several items were moved within the residence. No property was reported missing.

**ARRESTS**

Crash – Fatality – On July 26th at 5:45AM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Centreville Rd and Rugby Rd in Manassas (20111) to investigate a single vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 1996 Infiniti I30t was traveling southbound on Centreville Rd in the area above when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The driver and passenger were both flown to an area hospital where the passenger died as a result of his injuries later that day. The driver remains hospitalized and is expected to recover. During the investigation, the driver was also determined to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Following the investigation, the driver was arrested. Additional charges are pending.

The passenger was identified as Ellery Darnell PENN, 56, of Manassas

Malicious Wounding | Reckless Driving – On July 24th at 2:00AM, officers responded to the 10700 block of Bulloch Dr in Manassas (20109) to investigate an assault. The victim, an 18 year old woman of Gainesville, reported to police that she was driving when she noticed she was being followed by another vehicle. That vehicle’s driver forced the victim off the roadway and almost struck her bumper. The victim eventually stopped in the area above where the other driver, identified as the accused, exited her vehicle and approached her. The accused reached through the victim’s cracked window and struck her multiple times with her fists and keys. After the assault, the accused left the area and the victim contacted police. The victim sustained minor injuries to her face. Officers located the accused at her residence on Artemus Rd in Gainesville. Both parties were known to one another and this incident appeared to have stemmed from a previous encounter between the accused and the victim. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with malicious wounding and reckless driving

Strangulation | Domestic Assault & Battery – On July 25th at 11:11PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 2400 block of Kilpatrick Pl in Dumfries (22026) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 44 year old woman of Dumfries, reported to police that the accused, a known acquaintance, was verbally arguing with her and two other occupants of the home. During the encounter, the accused struck the victim and, at one point, choked her. The accused also struck a second victim, a 21 year old man of Dumfries. Officers arrived and were able to separate the parties. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On July 25th at 10:50PM, a Prince William County officer conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Van Buren Rd and Acadia Dr in Dumfries (22025) for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the driver, identified as the accused, the officer determined that he was possibly under the influence of alcohol. When the officer attempted to arrest the accused, he charged at him, striking the officer in the chest with his head. A struggle ensued and additional officers attempted to assist in the arrest. At one point, the accused swung his arm and struck another officer in the face. Eventually the accused was detained. No injuries were reported by the accused. The accused sustained minor abrasions and was treated at the scene by rescue personnel. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with 2 counts of assault & battery on a LEO, 1 count of driving under the influence, 1 count of obstruction of justice and 1 count of unreasonable refusal

Reckless Handling of a Firearm | Brandishing a Firearm – On July 25th at 9:41PM, officers responded to the area of Del Mar Dr and Darbydale Ave in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a brandishing complaint. The victim, a 37 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that an unknown man was seen walking and stumbling in the above area. As the man got closer the victim’s home, he pulled out a handgun from his waistband and brandished it towards her. Officers arrived in the area and were speaking to unrelated parties when a man, matching the description provided by the caller, exited a nearby wooded area and approached them. Officers issued commands to the man, who appeared to be intoxicated. During the encounter, the man pulled out a handgun and dropped it on the ground. The man was then detained without further incident. The investigation further revealed that the man, identified as the accused, fired the weapon into the ground nearby. No injuries or property damage were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with reckless handling of a firearm, brandishing, possession of a concealed weapon and public intoxication
