Arrests and incidents released on Thursday, August 6, 2015

**ARRESTS**

Sexual Battery – On July 14th at 9:01PM, officers began an investigation into an assault which was reported to have occurred in the 2200 block of York Dr in Woodbridge (22191) on July 12th around 3:15AM. The victim, a 24 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and a female acquaintance were picked up by a driver in the Clarendon section of Arlington using the UBER service phone application to get a ride home. The driver drove both women to an address in the above area on York Dr in Woodbridge. Once there, the driver exited the vehicle and approached the victim. During the encounter, the driver inappropriately groped the victim over her clothing. The victim’s acquaintance did not witness the encounter. Following the investigation, detectives from the Special Victims Unit were able to identify the driver as the accused. Warrants for the accused were obtained on August 4th followed by his subsequent arrest on August 5th.
Arrested on August 5th:
Mengistu ASFAW, 58, of 4620 Brentleigh Ct, #102 in Annandale
Charged with misdemeanor sexual battery
Court date: September 9, 2015 | Bond: $5,000 unsecured

Unlawful Wounding – On August 5th at 6:48PM, officers responded to investigate an assault which was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 12200 block of Granada Way in Woodbridge (22192) around 5:30PM. The victim, a 22 year old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused struck the victim in the face causing a significant injury. The victim went to an area hospital for treatment where police were contacted. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.
Arrested on August 5th:
Travon Tyrelle DAVIS, 22, of 12246 Granada Way in Woodbridge
Charged with unlawful wounding
Court date:  September 23, 2015 | Bond: held WITHOUT bond

Attempted Malicious Wounding – On August 5th at 6:48PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 14300 block of Berkshire Dr in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 15 year old male juvenile of Woodbridge, reported to police that he and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused allegedly picked up a knife and chased the victim inside the home. At one point, the victim struck the accused in the face. Another occupant of the home contacted police. The victim was not injured. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Flor Gilma DONIS AREVALO, 38, of the 14300 block of Berkshire Dr in Woodbridge
Charged with attempted malicious wounding

**INCIDENTS**

Residential Burglary – On August 5th at 7:34AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 1700 block of Iowa Ct in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a burglary in progress. The homeowner reported to police that they were inside the home when the sound of glass breaking was heard. Officers arrived at the residence and discovered a rear patio door was damaged. No suspect was located inside the home and no property was reported missing. The homeowner was only able to describe the intruder as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

Attempted Residential Burglary – On August 5th at 9:44PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 4300 block of Roeburn Ct in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an attempted burglary. The homeowner reported to police that sometime between 6:00PM on August 4th and 5:00PM on August 5th, entry was attempted into the home through a 2nd level window. No entry was made into the home and no property was reported missing.

Attempted Residential Burglary – On August 5th at 4:30PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 16000 block of Hayes Ln in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an attempted burglary. The homeowner reported to police that sometime between 3:00PM on August 4th and 3:00PM on August 5th, entry was attempted into the home through a basement level door. No entry was made into the home and no property was reported missing.
