Police look for suspect in case of animal cruelty to six-week-old terrier puppy

Felony Animal Cruelty – On Jan. 29, Prince William County Animal Control Officers began an investigation into an animal cruelty case that was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 2400 block of West Longview Dr. in Woodbridge (22191) between Jan. 8 and Jan. 27.

The investigation revealed that the accused refused to provide necessary medical care for a life-threatening condition for her 6-week old female Jack Russel Terrier.

The accused initially brought the puppy to a local veterinary clinic on Jan. 11 where the medical condition was diagnosed, and immediate care recommended. The accused refused initial care and did not seek any additional treatment for the puppy until Jan. 27 when she attempted to surrender the puppy to the Prince William County Animal Shelter.

The puppy has since received necessary treatment for the condition at Deepwood Veterinary Clinic before being adopted to new owners.

Following the investigation, Animal Control Officers obtained a warrant for the arrest of the accused, identified as Cristina JOYA DE CABALLERO. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful.
