Police K-9 locates suspects in carjacking of Lyft driver on Minnieville; police press charges

Carjacking – On September 4 at 9:49PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the 14400 block of Minnieville Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a carjacking.

The investigation revealed that a Lyft driver, identified as a 34-year-old man of Spotsylvania, had picked up two females from a hotel in Spotsylvania County. As the victim was driving in the area of Cardinal Dr and Waterway Dr, one of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded that the victim drive to an alternate location.

The victim was eventually able to exit the vehicle in the 14400 block of Minnieville Rd and run to a nearby business where he contacted police as the suspects fled the area on foot.

A police K-9 responded to search for the suspects who were located a short time later and detained without incident in the back yard of a residence located in the 4500 block of Evansdale Rd. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, both of the accused were arrested.

Micayla Rae CAPLANIS, 18, of 15236 Wentwood Ln in Woodbridge
Kenya Dorita JOHNSON, 21, of no fixed address
Charged with 1 count of carjacking, 1 count of abduction, and 2 counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony
