Pedestrian dies from injuries suffered in hit and run accident Feb. 21 in Dumfries

Fatal Hit and Run – On March 5, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit were notified of the death of the pedestrian involved in a hit & run crash that occurred the area of Graham Park Rd. and Old Triangle Rd. in Dumfries on February 21. An autopsy conducted on March 6 confirmed that the injuries sustained by the pedestrian were from being struck by a vehicle. The striking vehicle was possibly a light colored, Ford pickup truck. A witness to the crash took a photo of the suspected vehicle involved. The investigation continues.

The victim was identified as Gregory D. SAWYER, 62, of Dumfries

Felony Hit and Run [Previously Released] – On February 21 at 6:29PM, investigators with the Crash Unit responded to the area of Graham Park Rd. and Old Triangle Rd. in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a hit and run crash involving a pedestrian. The investigation revealed an unknown vehicle was making a right turn from eastbound Graham Park Rd. onto southbound Old Triangle Rd. when it struck a 62-year-old man who was crossing the road. The vehicle stopped briefly before continuing southbound on Old Triangle Rd. The victim was transported to a local hospital where it was determined he was suffering from life threatening injuries. The vehicle may have been a light colored, newer model, Ford F350 dually pickup. The investigation continues.
