Oct. 10 and Oct. 17 info sessions on middle school specialty programs

Learn about the broad range of opportunities available for middle school students at the upcoming Middle School Specialty Programs general information sessions.

• October 17, 7-9 p.m., Kelly Leadership Center

Note that an application is required to participate in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, the Mathematics and Science Programs, World Languages, and Traditional Schools even when the program location is in the student’s base school.

Most applications are due by Feb. 1, 2017.

Specialty program representatives will be on hand at the info sessions to provide detailed information about their respective programs and answer questions at both meetings.

If a program receives applications for more students than the program can accept or the school can house, a lottery will be held to select program participants.

Under conditions of extreme overcrowding of a given school, a program may be open only to students within the school’s boundary and may be closed to all transfer students. Additionally, other programs may be filled through lottery if necessary due to capacity.
