Name ideas for Nokesville K-8 and Haymarket Drive Elementary due by December 1

Prince William County School Board seeks name suggestions for the “Haymarket Drive Elementary School”  under construction in Haymarket and the “Nokesville K-8”school under construction in Nokesville. The School Board’s School Naming Committees will consider geographic or historical names as well as those of deceased persons who made local, state, or national service contributions. Citizens who make a suggestion are requested to provide background information to aid in the selection process. See School Board Policy 854 and Regulation 854-1 for details.

Jarcelynn Hart, Western Elementary Schools Associate Superintendent, will facilitate the school naming process. Recommendations of the School Naming Committees are scheduled to be submitted to the School Board on February 19, 2014.

The new schools, referred to as “Haymarket Drive Elementary School” and “Nokesville K-8” for planning purposes only, are scheduled to open in September 2014. These schools are being built to accommodate ongoing residential development in western Prince William County. Attendance boundaries for the two schools have not yet been set. Volunteers are now being sought for the Haymarket school boundary committee.
