Manassas police cruiser hits townhouse

Motor vehicle accident involving police vehicle
On March 23, 2012, at approximately 8:50 p.m., a Manassas City Police Officer was responding to an emergency call for assistance in the area of Buckner Road and Grant Avenue, when he lost control of his vehicle, struck another vehicle and a parked car, before striking a single family residence on Grant Ave. All parties involved were transported to Prince William Hospital for evaluation and released a short time later.

The accident is still under investigation at this time.  The accident reconstruction team reviewed evidence at the scene and crash data to determine what circumstances may have contributed to the accident.  The accident investigation should yield some preliminary findings by early next week, at which time more information will become available.

The Manassas City Fire Marshal’s Office was consulted regarding the structural integrity of the residence . It was determined that the house was not safe for occupancy until repairs are made and the residence is reinspected. The family who lived in the house was relocated to a temporary shelter by the American Red Cross, according to Sgt. E.C. Rivera, Manassas city police spokesman.
