Manassas City Police Beat 1/9/12

Burglary
Manassas City police officers are investigating a burglary that occurred between 5 p.m. on Jan. 4, 2012 and 5:25 a.m. on Jan. 5, 2012, at 10700 Wakeman Court, Henry’s Auto Auction. An employee advised officers that he arrived at the business only to discover that it had been burglarized. Stolen was a “Nikon” camera, valued at $100, a “Gateway” computer, valued at $300 and an undisclosed amount of currency. This is an ongoing investigation.

Larceny
Manassas City police officers were called to “Adcom Digitel” store, located at 9650 Liberia Avenue, regarding a theft. Witnesses advised officers that on Jan. 5, 2012, at approximately 4 p.m., two black males were inside the store when they pried open a display case and stole an “Apple” i-Phone 4S, valued at $600. Both males were described as 23-25 years old, 6’1” and 150 lbs. One male had a tattoo on the right side of his neck. The tattoo displayed Chinese type letters with stars. This is an ongoing investigation.

Hit & Run
Manassas City Police officers are investigating two Hit & Run incidents that occurred throughout the city.

The first incident occurred on Jan. 5, 2012, at approximately 4 p.m., in the 8800 block of Jackson Avenue. A resident advised officers that he heard a vehicle hit his neighbor’s mailbox. The vehicle then traveled for approximately 30 feet into the neighbor’s yard before returning to the road. The vehicle should have front end damage, stemming from the incident.

The second incident occurred between 4:10 and 4:25 p.m. on Jan. 5, 2012, in the 8500 block of Cavalry Lane. The victim told officers that she was attempting to turn onto Cavalry Lane when her vehicle was struck by a black, full size Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). The victim said that the SUV was driven by a 40-45 year old white or Hispanic male. The victim’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 in damages. These investigations are ongoing.

Stolen Vehicle
Manassas City Police officers are investigating the theft of a motor vehicle from the 10200 block of Woodmont Court. The victim told officers that on Dec. 27, 2011, he met a male who told him that he could repair his vehicle at a discounted price. The victim voluntarily turned the keys over to him but has not heard from him since. The male was described as Hispanic, approximately 55 years old, 5’2” to 5’3” and weighing approximately 130 lbs. The vehicle was described as a 1995 blue Honda Accord. This is an ongoing investigation.

Larceny
Manassas City police officers are investigating a larceny from a shed. The victim told officers that between 5 a.m. and 12:17 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2012, someone(s) broke into his shed in the 9700 block of Brent Street and stole approximately $1,400 in power tools. Officers collected evidence that was left at the scene. This investigation is ongoing.

Larcenies from Motor Vehicles
Manassas City police officers are investigating larcenies from two vehicles parked in the 8900 block of Rolling Road at the time of the thefts. The victims advised officers that sometime between 7 p.m. on Jan. 8, 2012 and 4 a.m. on Jan. 9, 2012, someone(s) entered their unlocked vehicles and stole a “Garmin” GPS unit, valued at $200, a wallet, jewelry and an undisclosed amount of currency. This investigation is ongoing.

Residents are reminded not to leave anything of value inside their vehicles and to always keep their vehicles locked.
