Hit & Run Incidents
Manassas City Police Officers are investigating three Hit & Run incidents that occurred throughout the city within the last couple of days.
The first incident occurred between 10:10 and 10:55 p.m. on Jan. 20, 2012, in the 10300 block of Janja Court. The victim told officers that he was inside his residence when he heard a loud crash coming from outside. He looked out the window and saw a dark colored vehicle driving away from the neighborhood. He then went outside to realize that his vehicle had been struck. The victim’s vehicle sustained front end damage, estimated at approximately $500 stemming from this incident.
The second incident occurred on Jan. 21, 2012 at approximately 11:05 p.m. at the intersection of Grant Avenue and Sudley Road. The victim advised officers that he was stopped at the intersection when he was rear ended by the driver of a maroon colored Dodge Intrepid. The driver of the striking vehicle left the area without exchanging information with the driver. The victim’s vehicle sustained approximately $150 in damages, stemming from this incident.
The third incident occurred on Jan. 22, 2012, in the 9200 block of Fry Street. The victim told officers that at approximately 7:30 p.m., she parked her vehicle in front of her residence and at approximately 9:30 p.m., she was informed by a family member that someone had struck the front of her vehicle, causing approximately $1,000 in damages. There were no witnesses to this incident.
Larceny
Manassas City police officers are investigating the larceny of construction equipment from a construction site located in the 9000 block of Liberia Avenue. The victim advised officers that between 5 p.m., on Jan. 19, 2012 and 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 20, 2012, someone(s) removed approximately $700 in construction equipment from the site. Also stolen were two air conditioning units, valued at approximately $1,500 each.
Larceny from a Vehicle
Manassas City police officers are investigating a larceny from a vehicle that occurred in the 8500 block of Burlington Court, between 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 19, 2012 and 8 a.m. on Jan. 20, 2012. The victim advised officers someone(s) stole a Tom Tom GPS unit and a Sony camera from his vehicle. Both items were valued at approximately $100 each.

Robbery Arrest
On Jan. 22, 2012, at approximately 1:50 p.m., Manassas City police officers were summoned to the 9400 block of Taney Road, regarding a robbery that had just taken place. The victim advised officers that she was walking on Taney Road when a black male snatched her purse. The victim chased the male to the rear area of the 9300 block of Taney Road. The suspect was then seen running into 9370 Taney Road.
Police arrived on scene and found Michael D’Angelo Tibbs, 28, hiding in an upstairs bedroom. Tibbs was placed under arrest and charged with Robbery. He was also served with four outstanding warrants from Prince William County. A search warrant was obtained and executed at 9370 Taney Road, in search of the victim’s belongings.
Further investigation revealed that a family member who was inside the residence at the time of the incident had disposed of the victim’s belongings. Michael D’Angelo Tibbs was held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, with no bond. His court date was set for March 6, 2012.
