Manassas City Police Beat 10/17/11

Marijuana Citations
Manassas City police officers cited two people throughout the weekend for unrelated marijuana possession incidents.

The first incident occurred on Oct. 15, 2011 at approximately 12:50 a.m. Officers were summoned to the 9000 block of Cannon Ridge Drive regarding a loud party. Once on the scene they were met by Christopher Lupul, of 9000 Cannon Ridge Drive. Further investigation revealed that Lupul was in possession of a baggie of marijuana. Lupul was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Underage Possession of Alcohol, due to his age (18 years old).

The second incident also occurred on Oct. 15, 2011, at approximately 10:45 p.m., in the 9200 block of Church Street. A Manassas City Police Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation when further investigation revealed that the driver, Jesse Jermaine Terry, of 10872 Stonewall Road, was in possession of a baggie of marijuana. Mr. Terry was cited with the traffic offense and with Possession of Marijuana. His court date was set for Nov. 15, 2011.

Burglary
Manassas City Police are investigating a burglary that occurred between early Oct. 14, 2011 and Oct. 15, 2011, in the 9700 block of Sassafras Court. The victims arrived home and discovered that the entire house had been ransacked and two laptop computers and two watches were missing. Officers arrived on scene and found damage to the back door leading to the deck. Officers collected items that were discarded by the offender(s).

One of the computers, a Dell, was valued at approximately $780.The other computer, a Toshiba, was valued at over $1,200.  The stolen watches had a combined value of $400.  This investigation is ongoing.

Hit and Run
Manassas City Police are investigating two Hit and Run incidents that occurred during the weekend.

The first incident occurred on Oct. 15, 2011, at approximately 9:25 p.m., in the parking lot of the “Super Market” store, located at 8680 Liberia Avenue. Witnesses ran into the store and advised employees that they had observed the driver of a red Ford station wagon strike two vehicles parked in the store lot. The offender was caught on the store’s video surveillance cameras purchasing a bag of charcoal just moments before the incidents occurred. He was described as a bald white male, wearing a black t-shirt. This investigation is ongoing.

The second incident occurred on Oct. 17, 2011, at approximately 12:45 a.m. Officers responded to the 9900 block of Hampton Road, regarding a Hit and Run. Witnesses advised officers that a dark colored vehicle had struck a Ford pick-up truck, causing the truck to strike a Toyota Paseo.

Both of the vehicles were unoccupied at the time of the incident. Officer canvassed the area and found the suspect vehicle, a black Nissan Quest. A witnessed stated to the officers that immediately after the incident, the suspect parked the vehicle and ran into a neighborhood home. Several home owners were questioned, with negative results. This investigation is ongoing.
