Manassas City Police Beat 12/21/11

Vandalism
Manassas City Police Officers were called to the 8500 block of Tapok Drive, regarding a vandalism incident. Upon the officers’ arrival, the victim told them that between midnight on Dec. 16, 2011and 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 20, 2011, someone(s) shot out his vehicle’s side windows. The damage was estimated at approximately $500.. The inside of the vehicle was not tampered with. This investigation is ongoing.

Intoxication Arrest
On Dec. 21, 2011, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Manassas City Police Officers were called to the 9400 block of Main Street regarding a fight. Upon the officers’ arrival, they were advised by witnesses that a male, later identified as John Michael Payne, of 11219 Lake Jackson Drive, was causing problems, which resulted in him getting punched in the face. Payne was transported to Prince William Hospital due to the severity of his injuries. While at the hospital, Payne was cited for Intoxicated in Public. His court date was set for Jan. 24, 2012. Payne was left in the custody of hospital staff and family members. The other subjects involved had already left the area prior to the officers’ arrival.

Assault on Law Enforcement
On Dec. 20, 2011, at approximately 8:40 p.m., a Manassas City Police Officer was patrolling the area of Aspen Place and George Street when he encountered an intoxicated male. The officer was assaulted by the male while attempting to arrest him for public intoxication. After a brief struggle, William Louis Hill, 43, of 9703 Aspen Place, was placed under arrest and charged with Assault on Law Enforcement, Resisting Arrest and Intoxicated in Public. He was held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, with no bond.
