Learn about military education benefits on Appreciation Day Oct. 31

Veterans and active duty military are invited to the Woodbridge Campus of Northern Virginia Community College for Military Appreciation Day on Oct. 31 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the first floor atrium.

Active duty military, retirees and their dependents can learn about the Military Survivors Education Benefits Program, Marine Gunnery Sergeant Fry Scholarship, Disabled American Veterans, Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts, Veterans Retraining Assistance Program, Veterans of Foreign Wars, vocational rehabilitation services and more. NOVA representatives will provide information about college programs and financial aid.

This is a free event. The campus is located at 15200 Neabsco Mills Road, easily accessible from Interstate 95 at exit 156. To learn more, call Veterans Advisor Diane Malone at 703-878-5748.

PW Police report passenger dies from injuries sustained in an April 15 traffic collision

The investigation revealed the driver of a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 Pickup truck was traveling westbound on Yates Ford Rd. approaching Evans Ford Rd. when a 1993 Buick Roadmaster traveling eastbound on Yates Ford Rd. entered the intersection in front of the truck’s path of travel. The truck and Roadmaster collided within the intersection. The driver and female passenger of the Roadmaster were transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. A Pug in the Roadmaster was declared deceased on scene.
