Info nights about middle school “specialties” planned for 5th graders and parents

Learn about the broad range of opportunities available to PWCS middle school students at the upcoming Middle School Specialty Programs general information sessions.

Representatives of specialty programs will be on hand at the Kelly Leadership Center Oct. 12 and 23 from 7–9 p.m. to answer questions and provide detailed information about their respective programs at both meetings.

Note that an application is required to participate in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, the Mathematics and Science Programs, World Languages, and Traditional Schools even when the program location is in the student’s base school.

If a program receives applications for more students than the program can accept or the school can house, a lottery is held to select program participants.

Under conditions of extreme overcrowding of a given school, a program may be open only to students within the school’s boundary and may be closed to all transfer students.

Additionally, other programs may be filled through lottery if necessary due to capacity.

The application deadline is February 1, 2016 for most PWCS schools.
