Haymarket home broken into while woman out walking the dog

**ARRESTS**

Strangulation | Abduction | Burglary | Domestic Related – On July 2 at 1:26AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 16000 block of Pitner St in Haymarket (20169) to investigate a domestic assault.  The investigation revealed that the accused, an acquaintance, broke into the residence of the victim, a 45-year-old woman of Haymarket, while she was out walking her dog. When the victim returned home and found the accused inside, a verbal altercation ensued.

During the encounter, the accused poured a glass of wine on the victim then threw her to ground and choked her. The accused eventually took the victim to an upstairs bedroom where he prevented her from leaving for several hours. The accused also took the victim’s cell phone preventing her from contacting police. At some point, the victim was able to use another phone to contact police and the accused fled the residence prior to officers arriving.

A short time later, an officer with the Haymarket Police Department located the suspect’s vehicle in the area of the Walmart located at 6500 Trading Sq. A police K-9 responded to search the area for the suspect. An officer located the accused a short time later and took him into custody without incident. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested

Kenneth Clayton GRIFFIN II, 44, of 12813 Wishing Well Way in Bristow
Charged with strangulation, abduction, burglary with intent to commit assault, grand larceny, assault & battery, and preventing the summoning of law enforcement

Malicious Wounding; Manassas victim transported to hospital with serious injuries – On July 2 at 8:34PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 7300 block of Colton Ln in Manassas (20109) to investigate a domestic assault. The victim, a 52-year-old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused pushed the victim to the ground then punched her in the face multiple times. The police were contacted and the accused fled the residence. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. A short time later, the accused turned himself into police without incident. The accused was subsequently charged and transported to the Adult Detention Center.

Mario MARTINEZ, Jr., 35, of 7300 block of Colton Ln in Manassas
Charged with malicious wounding

Assault & Battery on Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) – Accused of kicking three officers—On July 1 at 1:40PM, officers responded to the 13600 block of Jefferson Davis Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate the report of unconscious male.  When officers arrived, they made contact with a man who attempted to interfere with the investigation and was determined to be intoxicated.  When the officers attempted to take the man into custody, he resisted. Throughout the arrest process, the accused kicked three different officers. The accused was eventually detained and transported to the Adult Detention Center.  Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with 3 counts of assault & battery on a LEO, 1 count of obstruction of justice with threats to LEO, and 1 count of intoxicated in public
