Groundbreaking for “Ferlazzo” Elementary School Sept. 29

Site clearing is under way for county’s 59th elementary school which is scheduled to open in September 2016.

The School Board, other elected officials, and members of the school community are expected to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the “Ferlazzo” Elementary School on Friday, September 29 at 9:30 a.m. The event is open to the community.

The construction team has been working very closely with the civil engineers in planning the site, the architects in designing the structure, and the contractors in building the school. Approximately 55,000 yards of dirt will need to be moved to make way for the building; just another challenge the PWCS Office of Construction has taken on and met with good planning and skill.

Principal Felicia Norwood looks forward to leading the new school.

“The Ferlazzo school will be a positive learning environment where creativity and technology are immersed in high academic standards—a school where STEAM will ignite unlimited possibilities for all students,” Norwood said.
