Free COVID-19 testing at Kilby Elementary Wednesday through Friday. May 20-22

Information about the availability of COVID-19 testing has been confusing for many.  Yet, expanded testing is critical both to public health and as part of the calculation for allowing the gradual re-opening of businesses and public venues in northern Virginia, according to Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta.

Porta said Governor Northam has established a goal of 10,000 tests per day in Virginia, which makes it all the more important that the public is aware of available testing sites.

Everyone interested in getting a COVID-19 test is encouraged first to consult with their primary care physician if they have one.

Various free testing sites available to everyone have opened this week in our area.  Wednesday (5/20) through Friday (5/22) of this week, one of the nearest such free sites will be at Kilby Elementary School, which is located at 1800 Horner Road, Woodbridge, VA, 22191.  Testing will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  You will be asked if you have symptoms and testing may be limited to those who indicate they do.

Mayor Porta said that as a volunteer with the Virginia Medical Reserve Corps (VMRC), he will be serving as an administrative staffer at the Kilby School site on Thursday, May 21st, “so please do not be surprised if you see me there—I am obligated to keep your presence confidential,” he added.

The Occoquan mayor said, “Testing is a critical part of getting us through this pandemic, so if you are so inclined and able to do so, please consider getting tested.”
