Food now being collected for Prince William area Thanksgiving baskets

Drop off your donation of non-perishable food for community Thanksgiving baskets to your nearest participating school. Northern Virginia Family Services/SERVE and ACTS, two nonprofit organizations in the western and eastern ends of the county, respectively, will pick up and distribute the baskets during the weeks prior to the Thanksgiving holiday. The deadline for food donation delivery to schools is Nov.12.

Suggested non-perishable food items include:

• Canned Veggies • Stuffing • Gravy (packets or jars) • Cranberry Sauce • Sweet Potatoes • Muffin/Biscuit/Cornbread Mix • Pie Crust Mix

• Canned Pumpkin • Potatoes • Rice • Pasta & Sauces • Mac & Cheese • Applesauce & Canned Fruits • Coffee & Tea • Soups & Broths

• Peanut Butter • Jelly • Boxed Desserts • Flour & Sugar • Jello & Pudding
