Finance whiz kids from Prince William County high schools to participate in state contest

Teams from Freedom, Patriot, and Woodbridge High Schools will be going to Richmond on April 26 to compete in the final round of the Governor’s Economics and Personal Finance Challenge at Virginia Commonwealth University, due to their outstanding performance at Regional competition.

The Woodbridge High School team of Aria Austin, Chris Sullivan, and Chris Cespedes and the Freedom High School team of Krista Scott, Cindy Boateng, Hillary Amponsah, and Kevin Osei-Asamoah secured their trip to the state competion by capturing first place in regionals led by teachers Kristi Peschka (Woodbridge) and Bruce Pearson (Freedom).

The Patriot team also excelled in the economics test, garnering an invitation to compete. Patriot High School team members are Ryan Denholm, Andrew Bundens, Ryan Ferris, and Harold Canizales-Casiano, led by teacher Jill Cahill.
