Final day to make purchase offer for historic Nokesville School is Dec. 5

Friday, December 5 is the final date that Prince William County Public Schools will accept offers on the sale of Nokesville Elementary School. The building and about 10 acres are located on the village’s main street, at 12625 Fitzwater Drive, Nokesville, according to a news release from Irene Cromer, supervisor of school community relations for the school division.

Nokesville Elementary School was built in 1928 and sits on about 10 acres. A gym was added to the school in 1932 and four additions were added through 1956. The building underwent a renovation in 1993. The school facility is approximately 44,627 square feet with 19 regular classrooms.

The property (not including building contents and portable classrooms) is being sold “as is” in its entirety. Offers will be reviewed by staff; feasible offers will be presented to the Superintendent to share with the School Board for consideration.

The school for sale was replaced by The Nokesville School which opened this past September. The School Board authorized staff to sell and dispose of Nokesville Elementary School. A public hearing on the proposed sale was held on April 23, 2014.

Some community members have proposed it become a community center and a new home for the Nokesville Community Library, among other uses.
