Driver charged with insufficient tire tread in Lake Ridge traffic fatality

**UPDATES**

Crash – Fatality *ARREST – On October 16th, Crash Investigators arrested the driver involved in the fatal crash which was reported in the area of Old Bridge Rd and Clipper Dr on October 12th. The investigation revealed that the driver was operating his vehicle with insufficient tire tread which caused the vehicle to lose control on wet pavement leading to the crash. As a result of the investigation, the below charges were obtained.

Charged with reckless driving and insufficient tire tread depth
Court date: December 10, 2013 | Bond: $10,000 secured

Crash – Fatality [Previously Released] – On October 12th at 9:39AM, police responded to the area of Old Bridge Rd and Clipper Dr in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a crash. The investigation revealed that the driver, and only occupant, of a 1998 BMW 328i was traveling eastbound on Old Bridge Rd in the area above when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a pedestrian who was walking her dog on the sidewalk. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where she died a short time later. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. The dog was not injured and was released to family members. At this point in the investigation, speed, alcohol, and drug use are not believed to be factors in the crash. No charges have been placed at this time. The investigation continues.

The pedestrian has been identified as Zenaida Ines JIMENEZ, 58, of Woodbridge

**INCIDENTS**

Residential Burglary – On October 14th at 2:59PM, police responded to a residence located in the 13900 block of Andorra Dr in Woodbridge (22193) for a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 3:00PM and 4:00PM on October 13th. Entry appeared to have been made into an attached garage through an open door. A bicycle, valued around $100, was reported missing.

Attempted Residential Burglary – On October 14th at 12:24PM, police responded to a residence located in the 13200 block of Old Delaney Rd in Woodbridge (22193) for an attempted burglary. The homeowner reported to police that between 10:00AM and 12:24PM, an unknown person(s) attempted entry into the residence through a rear window which was found open. No entry was made into the residence and no property was reported missing.

**ARRESTS**

Narcotics Investigation – On September 9th at 7:55PM, a Prince William County police officer stopped a vehicle in the area of the Prince William Pkwy and Reids Prospect Dr in Woodbridge (22192) for a traffic related offense. During the encounter, the officer discovered marijuana and a significant amount of U.S. Currency. The driver, and only occupant of the vehicle, was identified as the accused. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without incident. This arrest was previously held for investigative purposes.

Charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana
