Detour on Va. Rt. 28 this weekend for storm sewer work

VA Rte. 28 (Nokesville Road) between Aden Road and Battalion Square will again be closed in both directions Friday and Sunday nights so that crews can continue storm sewer line work, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Closure times are:
10 p.m. Friday, July 17 to 5 a.m. Saturday, July 18
10 p.m. Sunday, July 19 to 4 a.m. Monday, July 20
Traffic will be detoured via Fitzwater Drive, Kettle Run Road and Vint Hill Road.

The work is part of Prince William County’s $69.9 million VA Rte. 28 widening project.

Phase One involves relocating Vint Hill Road to VA Rte. 28’s intersection with Infantry Lane and widening Va Rte. 28 to six lanes between Linton Hall Road and the relocated Vint Hill Road.

This is scheduled for completion in July 2016.

Construction of Phase Two, which involves widening VA 28 to four lanes between the relocated Vint Hill Road and Fitzwater Drive, is scheduled to begin in March 2016 and has an estimated completion date of December 2017.
