Del. Marshall asks Va. governor to call General Assembly into special session

Delegate Robert G. “Bob” Marshall has asked Governor Bob McDonnell to call a Special Session of the General Assembly to consider Delegate Marshall’s legislation to offer some relief to those affected by the federal shutdown and any future shutdowns.

The legislation would allow the Governor to declare a state of emergency in a case of federal shutdown that would require Virginia Courts to not accept or process any litigation or claims for debt collection and which would direct the State Corporation Commission ensure that utilities are kept on for those affected by the shutdown.

“Virginian’s should not be held hostage by Washington Gridlock,” Said Marshall.  “I believe that this legislation is a step in the right direction and needs to be implemented sooner rather than later.”
