Comstock announces Congressional app challenge

Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (VA-10) released the following statement announcing her office’s participation in the Congressional App Challenge:

“The new jobs of the 21st Century economy necessitate graduates who are proficient in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) so we can be the world leaders in these fields.  The Congressional App Challenge will help students in our community improve their programming and computer science skills and give them the ability to interact with high-tech employers in a variety of technological fields—increasing the job prospects of our students and helping build on our 21st Century economy.”

The Congressional App Challenge began Nov. 9, 2015 and runs through Jan. 15, 2016, challenging high school students to design and create an original app for submission.

Eligible high school students in Virginia’s 10th Congressional District may enter this Challenge as individuals or groups of not more than four students and will be judged by a panel chosen by the Office of Congresswoman Barbara Comstock.

The submitted app can be on any topic, provided it is original, appropriate, and has been made within a year of Jan. 16, 2016.  For more information, go to https://comstock.house.gov/services/congressional-app-challenge
