Compassionate “pets” for sick children

Capital Caring Health (CCH) reports it is providing Companion Robotic Dogs and Cats to all terminally ill pediatric patients in its care. According to a news release, these robotic pets (created by Ageless Innovations under the brand name Joy For All}, “respond just like real pets through sight, sound, and touch.” The robotic pets can be with each child all the time – “no allergy issues, just endless love,” according to the news release.

Tom Koutsoumpas, Chief Executive Officer of CCH, was quoted as saying, “Our Mission to provide compassionate care in as many forms as possible to our pediatric patients and their families is a special calling for us. We have seen firsthand the smiles and comfort these pets bring to these children and their families.”

Steve Cone, Chief of Philanthropy said, “As the largest children’s hospice provider in the Mid-Atlantic region, we have a 2022 goal of providing a special companion robotic pet to each of 200+ children we will care for this year. The organization is seeking donations to purchase the “pets.”

“To help us folks can go to capitalcaring.org/companionpets,” said the organization’s Chief of Philanthropy.

According to the news release each child and his or her parents are given a choice from two different dog colorings and three feline color combinations.  The cats, like real cats, respond randomly whereas the dogs are much more dog like, the news release said.
