Community invited to share Thanksgiving for 19th year at Lake Ridge Church
Old Bridge United Methodist Church will open its doors to the community to host Thanksgiving dinner.
The dinner, started 19 years ago, is a community tradition that is open to all, especially those who do not want to be alone. It will be held on Thursday, Nov. 28, at 1 p.m. at the church, 3966 Old Bridge Road, in the Lake Ridge section of Woodbridge.
“This is God’s table to share with the community. All the church asks is for individuals to call in advance…to let us know that you plan to attend and how many will be with you, so we will kow how many people to expect for dinner,” according to the Turkey Team.
About 250 people shared Thanksgiving Dinner at Old Bridge United Methodist in 2012; about 400 are expected this year.
Members of the church bring side dishes and pies; the church provides the funds for items that have to be purchased. Church members and their families also join in the dinner.
There is no charge for the dinner, although some make donations that are held in a special fund for future dinners.
