Commercial fire Incident at Gainesville Burger King Feb. 17

On Sunday, February 17, at 7:29 a.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire at the Burger King restaurant located in the 7600 block of Linton Hall Road in Gainesville, according to a report from Capt. Tom Person, assistant fire marshal for the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue.

First-arriving units located and extinguished a working fire in the exhaust ducts for the cooking appliances.  The preliminary damage estimate is $10,000.00 and no injuries were reported, according to Pearson.

Fire investigators from the County’s Fire Marshal’s Office classified the cause of this fire as accidental.  Excessive grease accumulation in the exhaust ducts was a contributing factor, Pearson’s report said.

The restaurant will be closed until clean-up is completed, necessary repairs are made, and authorization to reopen is obtained from the Health Department and Building Official’s Office, Pearson said.
