Volunteer Prince William’s Call to Action for June 28, 2024

Greetings, Prince William:  Help celebrate our nation’s birthday!  Historic Manassas, Inc. needs volunteers age 16+ to support Celebrate America along with the Stars & Stripes Rooftop Picnic in Old Town Manassas.  Three shifts are available:  11am-3pm, 3pm-7pm and 7pm-11pm.  You’ll have fun supporting both events which will include kid-friendly and family-friendly activities, and you get a magnificent view of the fireworks as we celebrate our nation’s independence!  Go to to sign up, email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) to learn more.

• BEACON for Adult Literacy urgently needs volunteers age 18+ to host Summer Conversation Classes July 8-24.  Sessions will be held Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:30am-11am and Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7pm-8:30pm.  It’s all done online, so you can relax in air-conditioned comfort and help students improve their English skills at the same time!  BEACON is also recruiting volunteers for its next ESOL session which begins in mid-August!  Online volunteer information sessions are being held in July, please visit to sign up.  Email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or call 571.531.5838 to learn more.

• Brain Injury Services (BIS) needs volunteers to be PALS (Providing a Link for Survivors) for survivors of brain injury.  This is a one-to-one friendship program for brain injury survivors; the program connects BIS clients with volunteers who can help them socialize in the community and rebuild social skills through friendship.  Once a month outings for coffee, walks, chess, lunch, etc. can help a client get their life back on track following such a traumatic occurrence!  Please visit for more information, email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) to learn how you can help.

• Educate America, Inc, a nonprofit startup, is seeking volunteers ages 18+ to assist with providing after-school tutoring and mentoring services within five (5) to ten (10) Prince William County Public Schools during the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 school year.  Volunteer with Educate America and make a difference in the lives of underserved youth!  Your time and expertise can positively impact the academic success and personal development of our youth—contributing to brighter futures for the next generation.  Volunteers will need to have background and CPS checks completed by July 15, 2024.  Please join them as a volunteer, tutor, mentor, or community partner by completing and submitting the online application form(s) at  Ques.tions?  Please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Pink Space Theory #2 • If you’re a college student or recent college grad and passionate about STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education, Pink Space Theory wants to meet you!  They’re looking for interns to act as Educational Content Producers, helping this nonprofit bring their STEAM program to life for underserved students for the next school year.  The intern would spend 10-20 hours a month, teaching experience is desirable.  This sounds like a fantastic opportunity to design an educational program which will open new worlds for students!  Please visit for details, email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) to learn more

Va. colleges make pact with Youngkin on veterans benefits

Gov.
