Bus service begins Nov. 5 at new Telegraph Road commuter lot in Woodbridge

PRTC buses will begin serving the new Telegraph Road commuter lot in Woodbridge on Monday, Nov. 5 when the agency’s Fall Service Change takes effect.

The new Telegraph Road commuter lot, near the intersection of Caton Hill Road and close to the Horner Road commuter lot, will be served only by PRTC buses on the Rosslyn/Ballston OmniRide route and buses on the Dale City – Pentagon / Crystal City OmniRide route.  When the Dale City – Pentagon / Crystal City OmniRide buses start serving the new Telegraph Road commuter lot, they will no longer serve bus stops at the PRTC Transit Center or Potomac Mills Mall.  Instead, from Dale Boulevard, those buses will travel along Minnieville Road to Caton Hill Road.

Commuters who use the Dale City – Pentagon/Crystal City OmniRide route may continue to park at the Lindendale or Dale City commuter lots; or they can continue using their current bus stops and ride any PRTC bus to the Horner Road commuter lot where they can transfer to the Dale City – Pentagon/Crystal City bus.

Also on Nov. 5, PRTC will close an overflow gravel commuter lot at the Transit Center.  The gravel lot, on Telegraph Road next to a paved commuter parking lot, is being closed to the public and fenced in order to provide additional bus parking for PRTC’s fleet.

Other changes set to take effect on Nov. 5 are:

• Eliminating the PM bus stop at Independence and 6th currently served by Montclair OmniRide and South US 1 trips.  The stop is being eliminated because of safety concerns and low ridership;

• Redesignating the trip names for MX (midday) and NX (late night) trip, except for the MX-1 trip;

• Rerouting PM trips on the Prince William Metro Direct buses to serve the PRTC commuter lot and Potomac Festival bus stop;

• Rerouting Manassas Metro Direct buses to eliminate direct service to the Manassas VRE station. Buses will continue to serve stops on Center and Church streets;

• Eliminating the bus stop at Dale Boulevard and Ashdale served by eastbound Dale City OmniLink buses.  Buses will instead serve a new stop on Gideon before Dale Boulevard; and

• Moving a timepoint for the westbound Cross County Connector bus from Church and West to Grant and Lee.

The Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission, PRTC, updates its schedules twice annually – in the spring and fall – to reflect current running times and make other changes such as updating routing and relocating bus stops as necessary.

Updated schedules are now available online at PRTCtransit.org.  For specific questions about the upcoming changes, contact PRTC’s Customer Service Office at (703) 730-6664.
