Blue lights flashed; man identifies self as off duty police officer, then vanishes

**INCIDENTS**

Impersonating a Police Officer | Stolen Vehicle – On June 18 at 10:21PM, officers responded to investigate a suspicious vehicle which was reported in the area of Prince William Pkwy and Reids Prospect Dr in Woodbridge (22192). A citizen reported to police that a white 2016 Chevrolet Silverado activated blue flashing lights which were mounted on the sun visors inside of the vehicle and was attempting to pull over a silver 2005 Mercury Mountaineer in the above area. The investigation revealed that the driver of the Mountaineer, believing the Silverado to be law enforcement, pulled over. During the encounter, an unknown man exited the Silverado and identified himself as an off-duty police officer. As the driver of the Mountaineer was speaking with the suspect, a Prince William County police officer in a marked cruiser pulled in behind the Silverado and activated his emergency lights. As the officer walked towards both vehicles, the suspect drove away in the Silverado. The officer got back into his cruiser and located the Silverado a short time later unoccupied. Further investigation revealed that the Silverado was reported stolen out of Fairfax County earlier that day. Officers checked the surrounding area for the suspect who was not located. Anyone who may have had contact with this vehicle or suspect is asked to contact police at 703-792-6500. Photographs of the vehicle are attached to this release. The investigation continues.

Shooting Investigation- On June 17 at approximately 11:17pm, officers responded to a residence located in the 12000 block of Cinnamon St in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a shooting. Officers arrived at the home and located the victim, a 36-year-old man from Woodbridge, suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Further investigation revealed that the victim saw two unknown men going through his vehicle which was parked in the above area. When the victim confronted the men, they attempted to flee on foot as the victim chased after them. During the encounter, one of the suspects brandished a firearm and shot the victim. A police K-9 and helicopter searched for the suspects who were not located. The investigation continues.

Armed Robbery – On June 18 at 11:05PM, officers responded to the 14400 block of Filarete St in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a robbery which occurred earlier that evening. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 25-year-old man of Woodbridge, was walking somewhere in the area of Darbydale Ave when he was approached by three unknown black men. During the encounter, one of the suspects displayed a knife while the other suspects took the victim’s money and cell phone before fleeing the area on foot. Minor injuries were reported. The victim was uncooperative with officers during the investigation. Officers checked the surrounding area for the suspects who were not located.

Strong Armed Robbery – On June 18 at 1:58AM, officers responded to investigate a robbery which occurred in the 2300 block of McClellan Ct in the Town of Dumfries (22026) earlier that night. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 26-year-old man of Dumfries, was walking in the above area when he was approached by four unknown black men. During the encounter, the suspects assaulted the victim knocking him to the ground. The suspects then took the victim’s wallet before fleeing the area on foot. Minor injuries were reported. No suspect descriptions are available at this time.

Residential Burglary – On June 19 at 7:15AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 5500 block of Evesham Ct in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 5:00PM on June 18 and 6:15AM on June 19. The investigation revealed that there were no signs of forced entry. A cell phone and money were reported missing.

Attempted Residential Burglary – On June 16 at 3:37AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 2800 block of Noble Fir Ct in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an alarm activation. When officers arrived, no signs of forced entry were observed at the time. Later that morning, the homeowner discovered that it appears someone attempted to open a front window open. No entry was made into the residence and no property was reported missing.

**ARRESTS**

Strong Armed Robbery | Malicious Wounding – On June 18 at 5:00PM, officers responded to the 13400 block of Occoquan Rd in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate several subjects fighting in the area. When officers arrived, they located a victim, identified as a 29-year-old man of Woodbridge. The victim reported to police that he was walking back to his vehicle after visiting a nearby business when he saw two unknown men attempting to steal it. When the victim confronted the suspects, a physical altercation ensued and the victim was knocked unconscious. The suspects then fled the area as witnesses contacted police. The victim was initially treated at the scene for his injuries but later responded to a local hospital for additional treatment. During the investigation, detectives with the Robbery Unit identified the suspects as Lester Hermes ESCALANTE and Ivan Adelso ESCALANTE then obtained warrants for their arrest. Later that evening, both of the accused were located and taken into custody without incident as they were leaving their residence.

Both were charged with robbery, malicious wounding, grand larceny, and conspiracy to commit grand larceny

Strangulation – On June 18 at 10:22PM, officers responded to a hotel room located in the 10600 block of Automotive Dr in Manassas (20109) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 35-year-old woman of Brandy Station, reported to police that the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal argument which escalated. During the encounter, the accused grabbed the victim by the neck and began to strangle her. A hotel employee heard the victim scream for help and contacted police. The accused fled the area prior to officers arriving. As officers were still investigating, the accused returned to the hotel in his vehicle. When officers approached the suspect, he drove away. A short time later, the accused was located and detained without further incident. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with strangulation, preventing the summoning of law enforcement, and obstruction of justice

Assault & Battery on a Correctional Officer – On June 16 at 11:58PM, officers responded to the 5200 block of Spring Branch Blvd in Dumfries (22025) to investigate a disorderly person. When officers arrived, they made contact with the accused who exhibited signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest. While the accused was being processed at the Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center, the accused spit in the face of a corrections officer. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was charged and remains incarcerated.

Assault & Battery on Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) – On June 16 at 12:44PM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 8100 block of Portwood Turn in Manassas (20109) to investigate the report of a trespasser.  When officers arrived, they made contact with a man who was not a resident and refused to leave the apartment.  When the officers attempted to take the man into custody, he resisted and spit on an officer. The accused was eventually detained without further incident.  No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.
